At 34.4 deg C June 30 hottest day in decade

SRINAGAR: Srinagar recorded the hottest June day in a decade as the maximum temperature on the last day of the month settled at 34.4 degrees Celsius.

“June 30 was the hottest day in the past decade at a high of 34.4 degrees Celsius,” a spokesman of the MeT office said today.

The day temperature yesterday was three degrees above normal during this part of the season. It was also the hottest day of the season so far, he said.

Earlier, the hottest June day during the past decade was recorded in 2007 when the mercury settled at 34.3 degrees Celsius followed by 34.1 in 2013.

While the highest day temperature recorded in June 2006 was 33.2 degrees Celsius, it was 33.3 degrees Celsius in 2008, 33.4 in 2009, 32.5 in 2010, 33.8 in 2011, 32.6 in 2012, 33.9 in 2014 and 32.6 in 2015, the spokesman said. (AGENCIES)
