India, Pak should reach agreement to demilitarise Siachen: KC Tyagi

NEW DELHI: In the wake of deaths of nine Indian soldiers deployed at Siachen in an avalanche, Mr KC Tyagi of the JD(U) today suggested that India and Pakistan should reach an agreement to demilitarise the area to avert casualties to jawans guarding the borders in an inhospitable terrain.   Raising the issue during Zero hour in the Rajya Sabha, Mr Tyagi said, ”Nine Indian soldiers, including Lance Naik Hanumanthappa, died in an avalanche in Siachen while guarding the borders.

I feel that during talks with Pakistan, both countries should agree to demilitarise the zone so that lives of soldiers are saved.” (AGENCIES)
