Congress stage walkout, Er Rashid marshaled out from Assembly

SRINAGAR : Congress members today walked out from the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly while Independent member Er Sheikh Abdul Rashid was marshaled out from the House after he stormed into the Well.
The trouble started immediately after Minister for Finance Dr Haseeb Drabu started reading the Budget proposal in the House as all opposition members, including from Congress, National Conference (NC) and Er Rashid were on their feet demanding that government should table the Handwara killing inquiry report. Shouting slogans that Speaker Kavinder Gupta has promised on Friday that the report will be presented in the House with two days, the members did not resumed their seats after repeated directions from the chair.
The chair directed Dr Drabu to continue though opposition continued slogan shouting.Er Rashid stormed into the Well of the house while NC and Congress members were protesting near their seats. Parliamentary Affairs minister Abdul Rehman Veeri intervened and said the report on Handwara incident will be presented in the House at an appropriate time.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti urged Dr Drabu to continue his Budget speech and not to give any attention to slogan shouting of opposition, the Congress members walked out from House in protest.
Er Rashid continued to protest in the Well of the House and refused to resume his seat despite warning by the Speaker.He was later marshaled out from House.
Earlier, the Question-Hour and Zero-Hour proceedings were conducted normally today. (AGENCIES)
