Govt submits 586 road projects of Rs 3,556 cr to Centre under PMGSY

SRINAGAR: A proposal to the tune Rs 3,556.59 crore has been submitted to the Centre for 586 road schemes under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) in Jammu and Kashmir, where 235 kms road length has been blacktopped in various districts in the current fiscal year. Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri today informed the Legislative Assembly that 235 km road length have been blacktopped in various districts of the State so far during current financial year.

He said the targets fixed for blacktopping of road length in the districts are expected to be achieved in coming months subject to weather conditions and response from the bidders, among others. Replying to a question by Shakti Raj Parihar, the Minister said no new road project had been sanctioned under National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Central Road Fund (CRF) during current fiscal.

He said, however, the projects sanctioned under CRF and NABARD during last financial year have been taken for execution during current financial year. The Minister said construction of 146.50 mtr span steel grider bridge over River Chenab at Shava Dal Doda has been taken up for execution at a cost of Rs 15.87 crore against which Rs 6.08 crore have been released so far.
