Two overground workers arrested, arms cache recovered

SRINAGAR: Two Overground Workers (OGW) of Hizbul Mujahideen militant outfit were arrested in Baramulla district, police said, adding a substantial cache of arms and explosives was recovered from them.

Showkat Ahmad Bhat of Dooru and Tanveer Ahmad Dar of Mundji were arrested by a joint checking squad of Army, Police and CRPF at Amargarh bypass in Sopore, about 55 kms from here, last evening, a police officer said.

He said a joint naka was established in the area following specific information about possible movement of militants.

Two Rocket Projectile Guns, three pressure mines, one 2.5 kgs Improvised Explosive Device (IED) with a remote control, two Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) grenades, one each bayonet, wireless set and charger besides two wireless antennas were recovered from the possession of the duo, the officer said.

He said both the arrested persons were booked under various sections of Explosives Substance Act and Indian Wireless Telegraphic Act. (AGENCIES)
