J&K will soon streamline cooperative sector: Minister

JAMMU: Minister for Cooperatives Chering Dorjay today said the State Government will soon streamline the cooperative sector.

“Cooperative Movement has played a vital role in economic development of the State and cooperative institutions came to play a constructive role in the distribution of rural credit, agriculture inputs and consumer articles,” Mr Dorjay said while chairing a review meeting convened to take stock of the functioning of Cooperative Department.

He said to revive the cooperative movement in the state focus should be given to the elections for the different cooperative societies from primary to secondary level going to be held soon which would help for streamlining the Department.

The Minister reiterated the commitment of the present Government to boost the cooperative movement in view of its huge potential to generate employment through well establishment and profit generating cooperative societies. (AGENCIES)
